Fishery Information

Ashdown Forest Fly Fishery is in the heart of Ashdown Forest in Nutley, Hants. It is a beautiful complex of fly fishing lakes perfect for anyone that wants to try fly fishing for the first time or the seasoned fly angler who wants to catch some hard-fighting trout!

The main lake at this fishery is over 400 years old, and it is spring-fed. There is also a second lake here that is set aside just for brown trout. Both lakes are stocked every two weeks to ensure that are plenty of fish to catch.

What size do the fish go to?

We can’t comment on the size, although, the size of the trout in both lakes seems to be very respectable, there isn’t too much info about the trout and how big they go sadly. We can say that there are about 650 trout in these lakes at any time, so there is a very good chance of catching one.

What tactics work well?

The best tactic to use is the fly, of course. In fact, it is the only tactic you can use to fish this site. Which fly greatly depends on the season and even the day you go. The staff can recommend the best fly to use while you are there.

What facilities are on site?

There is a toilet block on site. There are also cottages available as holiday homes and refreshments as well. Fly fishing lessons are also available on site for anyone who wants to try and fly fish. There are also several fly tying classes throughout the year.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is close to the reception.
