Membership fees run from £30 for juniors and OAPs to £65 for seniors; however, senior and OAP membership allows you to bring your spouse and two children under twelve to visit or fish for free.
Members can also bring guests with them, and day ticket prices are £5.00 each. Night fishing is only for members; juniors must fish with a senior member.

Check out the Bury District Angling Society if you want to go fishing in Bury near Manchester.
The society currently offers six waters; Cromptons Lodge, Big and Little Carcus, Field Lodge, Island Lodge, and Cartwheel. Adult yearly membership runs to £50, and junior membership is £15. In addition, day ticket fishing is also available in all the valley waters except for Cromptons Lodge.
Crompton’s Lodge offers five well-spaced bivvy pegs for day and night fishing. This lake is primarily carp waters and is described as medium difficulty. Little Carcus is the smallest lake located in Kirkless Valley. Field Lodge is a mixed fishery. Island Lodge is a medium-sized lake that is excellent for advanced anglers who want to challenge themselves.

Carp Fishing In Manchester
Local rivers Goyt, Etherow, and Sett are all maintained by the Disley and New Mills Angling Club (DNMAC) to provide a wide range of fishing opportunities in beautiful scenery all year round. You will find various still waterways such as reservoirs, dams, lodges, and ponds in remote and easily accessible locations.
The club operates specimen carp fishing and pleasure angling in the High Peak, Peak District National Park, and South Manchester.
Linnet Clough Reservoir is located on the border between Greater Manchester and Derbyshire, near Mellor and Marple. There are a few huge bream and tench in the reservoir, but the best fishing is for the quality Carp.
Birch Vale Reservoir is a five-acre site near the village of Birch Vale and is one of DNMAC’s largest still water venues. This water contains specimen Carp, Pike, Perch, Bream, and tons of Roach.
Disley Dam is a popular venue for Carp anglers with lots of Carp in the 8lbs to 15lbs range, but there are some larger Carp in the dam.
Memberships cost £55 for seniors, £40 for OAPs, and £10 for juniors. Only night fishing memberships have an annual fee of £20.
Bradshaw Hall Fisheries has the reputation of being one of the North West’s finest fishing venues; you’ll find these nine fully-stocked lakes in Bradshaw, near Bolton. The lakes are well stocked with Carp, f1s, Roach, Rudd, Tench, Bream, Ide, Barbel, Chub, and Perch.
Five of the lakes are available for match fishing and the two most popular match days are Wednesday and Sunday.
Day tickets cost £9 for 1 rod and £13 for two. Night fishing is also possible, and you need to buy a 24hr—ticket for £25.
Suppose you’re looking for night fishing in Manchester, and you’re thinking of joining the membership at Broughton Angling Club that we spoke about earlier; their membership also covers you for night fishing in any of their four waters.
Pike Fishing In Manchester
You can find some excellent Pike fishing in Manchester; head over to Heatley Mere, near Lymm, and join the Dunham Massey Angling Club membership.
The club enjoys the fishing rights of five lakes for fishing near Manchester. The most famous is Heatley Mere in Lymm. There’s an excellent selection of fish in the Mere, including Carp over 20lbs. During the winter months, Pike fishing is prevalent at this venue.
New members can join for £70, but annual fees after the first year drop to £45. There are reduced fees for juniors, youths, and OAPs.
Debdale Angling Society leases Gorton Upper Reservoir near Audenshaw in Greater Manchester. There’s Pike to over 20lbs, Perch and Bream to 18lbs.
There are small to medium Pike in the Old River Irwell in Irlam. This still water venue was created when the Manchester Ship Canal was built in 1894. Salford Quays is another venue where you can catch some decent-sized Pike (catching them isn’t easy, though) up to 33lbs. These two venues have only supported a fish population for the last five to ten years.
Fly Fishing In Manchester
When it comes to Manchester trout fishing, we struggled to find anywhere right in the heart of Manchester. Instead, we recommend Tintwistle in Derbyshire. It is only fourteen miles from Manchester, which is no distance to travel for excellent fly fishing and is the home of Arnfield Fly Fishery. Two bonuses make the trip to this fly fishery well worth the time. First, the venue is set in magnificent Peak District countryside, and you’ll find some of the best still water dry and wet fly fishing in the UK.
The venue is set on forty acres and is stocked with some beautiful Rainbow, Blue, and Brown trout up to 20lbs. If you enjoy fly fishing from a boat, you can rent one of their 15 ft Loch Lomond boats. A full day sporting ticket is £25 (plus a £4 cost-per-fish).
If you don’t want to travel to the Peak District but still want to enjoy trout fishing in Manchester, head to Curley’s Trout Fishery in Wallsuches, Great Manchester. This fishery is on a two-, hundred-year-old reservoir on the hills of the West Pennine Moors next to Rivington Country Park. The reservoir covers six acres and is a fly-only water with fully-finned triploid Rainbows, Blues, and Goldies up to double digits.
If fly fishing takes your fancy but you need lessons, one of the premier fly fishing schools near Manchester is Peaks Fly Fishing. Lessons take place on a private stretch of the River Derwent near the village of Darley Dale in Derbyshire.
There’s plenty of fishing in Manchester to whet the appetite of even the most demanding anglers. If you check out any of the above venues, you can’t go wrong. If you know of any free fishing in Manchester, please let us know. We are trying to find a few places to add to our guide.
