Fishing Lakes in West Yorkshire

We will now list some recommended fishing venues in West Yorkshire. These are coarse fishing venues, and then, later on, we will talk about carp-specific venues, etc.

Farview Fishing Lakes: The Fishery at Farview provides an idyllic setting for a day of fishing, nestled in the picturesque Yorkshire countryside. Their facilities and lakes are among the best in the country, attracting anglers from near and far. It is one of the best fishing ponds in West Yorkshire.

Push Dam: The Push Dam is located in Shepley, near Huddersfield. To get to the dam, take a winding path up through the woods from Dungeon Bottom. The Slaithwaite and District Angling Club manages and maintains Push Dam.

Hemsworth Water Park: Both lakes are well-stocked with various fish, and anglers can fish from dawn to dusk. The first lake has sandy beaches and plenty of roach, skimmer, perch, bream, and carp that weigh up to 36lbs. In contrast, the smaller lake is hidden away and boasts majestic creatures. It is home to similar fish as the first lake; however, they only grow to 16lbs.

Carp Fishing in West Yorkshire

Knotford Lagoon: If you’re looking for an excellent place to fish where you can relax and forget about the stresses of daily life, then look no further. In addition to coarse fishing, this location is also perfect for specimen carp angling. Here, you might have a chance at reeling in bream, tench, roach, perch, pike, eel, or even a large carp!

Brookfoot Lake: Day tickets are available for this feature-rich fishery that’s home to beautiful carp (up to 20 lbs), tench (up to 6 lbs), perch (to 3lbs), roach and rudd. The stunning surroundings with an abundance of wildlife make this a perfect place for those seeking peace and relaxation and keen anglers looking for specimen fish.

Kingfisher Lake (At Raker Lakes): This 6.5-acre specimen carp lake was stocked with 220 Simmo fish in 2000, and approximately 70 of these are now between 20 and 30lbs. Four fish have been caught over the 30lb mark, with the record being 33lb 4oz.

Fly Fishing in West Yorkshire

Windy Bank Fly Fishing: The Club water is Meltham Mills Reservoir, a five-acre reservoir that is 200 years old. It is adjacent to Meltham Golf Club and ancient protected woodland on one side. The reservoir contains rainbow trout that weigh between 1.5 and 5 pounds, and it is open for fishing all year round.

Kilnsey Park: All anglers are welcome to our two fly fishing lakes which open all year and fish well throughout every season. The lakes are around one-acre size-wise, and we regularly stock them with Rainbow, Blue, Brown, and Golden trout weighing 2lb up to 20lb+. The fish have been grown in pristine mineral-rich waters on our Trout Farm, following only the highest standards.
