Fishery Information

Bottoms Mill is a little-known treasure that features a walk that round the Mill Pond and goes along to the river. The Mill Pond is run and by the Slaithwaite District Angling Club, which offers fishing opportunities. The water is on the A6024 in Holmfirth, which flows in the direction of Holme. Bottoms Mill, which dates back to the 1820s, is considered one of the region’s oldest mills.

The prominent red chimney that stands 150 feet tall was constructed in 1911 and it continues to serve as a landmark to this day. The mill was dependent on water from the River Holme, which was diverted into the Bottoms Mill pond via a goit, a narrow watercourse.

Even in modern times, the goit and Mill Pond continue to provide as a safe refuge for all types of species. There are Bream, Carp, Roach, Tench, and Perch, along with the rare Trout, in this body of water. Day tickets are available for purchase for this water.
