Situated on the northern part of the town centre, Pontefract Park is known for holding around 20 events per year. It is home to a racecourse, which gets around 16 race meetings each year. It is perfect for visitors who enjoy fishing and jogging around the park.

This small boating lake gets a lot of hammer during warmer months. Tench and roach respond well to bigger baits such as bread and corn. Perch up to 2 lbs. respond well to chopped worm.

Pontefract Park is suited to both novice and experienced anglers. It is also home to a good stock of carp. This site produces pike into the mid doubles during winter months.

Pontefract Park North is a local nature reserve that offers a wide range of habitats and often forming complex mosaics of vegetation; with grassland, a lake, woodland, wetland and open water.
