Fishery Information

Bentley Pool is located in a peaceful valley in Cheshire. The lake is only about one acre in size. While this can put some anglers off of visiting this lake, we urge you to give this lake a try. If you enjoy catching loads of different fish species to good sizes, this is a lake that you’ll love to fish. It isn’t too challenging to catch at this lake because it is so small, but the results can be very rewarding indeed. There are many locals who fish Bentley Pool almost exclusively because of how good the fishing is. It is the best-kept fishing secret in Cheshire for good reason.

What size do the fish go to?

There are carp to over 20lbs in this lake; they are mature and beautiful fish. There are also tench to over 9lbs who will give you the fight of your life. Bream to 6lbs, and some really nice crucian carp, roach, rudd and perch. There are also a few trout, blue dace and chub as well.

What tactics work well?

There is an island to fish to at Bentley Pool which is a really good place to start. However, a lot of the fish love to hang out in the margins, so don’t ignore these either. Maggots and corn are excellent baits for plenty of the larger fish here. Of course, the carp respond well to boilies, as do the tench. However, if you’re going for the tench, a closed feeder with maggots is ideal.

What facilities are on site?

Is parking available?
