Fishery Information

This is a lovely fishery in Taverham Mill which is a nature reserve in Norfolks Wensum Valley.

In total there are 4 lakes here but they are referred to as the Costessey Pits. For the fisherman who wants a quiet days fishing with carp of up to 35lb and tench to 9lb this could be the venue for you.

The Mills

This lake has plenty of features to fish to such as gravel bars, lily pads, islands and peninsulas. There is around 350 carp in here along with plenty of tench and there’s some great pike fishing to be had in winter. Its a great lake to suit anglers of all skill levels.

Costessey Number 1

This is a 4 acre lake that is well known for its silver fishing. There are some carp in here but it’s not a carp water but do be prepared to catch the odd one when you are silver fishing. You are always going to catch here no matter what the weather. Float fishing works well on here and it’s got great accessibility from the car park.

Costessey Number 2 (Ski Lake)

This is a lake that is used by water skiers as it’s a long-shaped lake that’s 15 acres in size. It does contain the biggest carp which can go up to 36lb and there’s also a few other lumps in there as well.

When targeting the carp you might end up catching a lot of bream as there’s a lot of large ones in here.

This lake is a season ticket water and there is a waiting list for this lake that you will have to join.

What size do the fish go to?

There are carp to 36lb with a few more to 30lb.

What tactics work well?

Be careful not to use too much ground bait as the bream in here love it and will come in and hoover it all up. Fish big boilies with a PVA bag for the best results.

What facilities are on site?

Accommodation is available at £30 per night and the mill itself has plenty of facilities for you.

Is parking available?

Yes, there is plenty of parking.
