Fishery Information

This fishery is run by Hodnet Angling Club.

Goldstone Pools is comprised of two separate pools: Goldstone Top (‘Common’) Pool and Goldstone Bottom Pool. It is a well-stocked mixed fishery used by the club as a pleasure/match pool. The pools offer a variety of fishing opportunities and are located in attractive surroundings.

What size do the fish go to?

The pools are stocked with a range of fish species, including carp and catfish. The exact sizes of the fish may vary, but there are some nice-sized carp and a few catfish in Goldstone Bottom Pool.

What tactics work well?

The best tactics for fishing at Goldstone Pools may vary depending on the species you are targeting. Generally, a variety of fishing methods and baits can be effective. It is recommended to consult with experienced anglers or the club for specific tactics that work well at the pools.

What facilities are on site?

Goldstone Top Pool features a range of well-maintained pegs, many of which are slabbed. The pool is easily accessible from the adjacent lane. There may also be designated swims on the left-hand bank of Goldstone Bottom Pool, where fishing is allowed. Please adhere to any signage or instructions regarding fishing locations.

Is parking available?

Vehicle parking is available at Goldstone Pools. For Goldstone Top Pool, there is parking just inside the gate. For Goldstone Bottom Pool, you can park by the roadside, ensuring that the gate is not blocked. If the field is dry and you have a suitable vehicle, you may be able to drive across it and park by the pool. However, it is important to stick to the designated track and take responsibility for any potential vehicle-related issues.

Additionally, it is important to note that the club has implemented measures to prevent the spread of Carp Herpes Virus (KHV) following an outbreak in 2021. Members are encouraged to use disinfectant dip tanks to treat nets and unhooking mats before and after fishing. Completely drying wet nets and mats at home, preferably in full sunshine, is also recommended as an additional precaution to prevent the transmission of KHV.
