What size do the fish go to?

Specific sizes for each fish species are provided for the Lily Pad Pool: Mirror and Common Carp up to 8lbs, Tench up to 2lbs, Crucians, F1’s, and Rudd. In the Quarry Pool, Brown Trout average around 1lb, and Rainbow Trout average around 2lb with a few 4-5lb fish as well.

What tactics work well?

For the Quarry Pool, a floating line with either a dry fly or a bright wet fly works best due to the dark peaty water. The pond depths range from 3-5ft. For the Lily Pad Pool, waggler, pole, or method feeder techniques work well, with depths ranging from 2-6ft.

What facilities are on site?

Greenhill Fishery offers tackle hire and bait and 30-minute tuition sessions for beginners on the trout bait pond. Fly casting tuition with a local instructor can be arranged in advance.
