Fishery Information

The Town Council owns and maintains the Hailsham Country Park, which encompasses approximately 22 acres and features woodland, an open field area, wildflower meadow, two ponds, and a lake. The open field area is bordered by a watercourse, and there are footpaths that are accessible in just about any weather all through the park.

Country Park Lake and Hempstead Pond are open to anglers during the fishing seasons. Both of these fishing spots have an abundant fish population that includes carp, bream, roach, rudd, tench, perch, and even the occasional pike. Weekly fishing permits are available for purchase from MFC supplies located on Station Road, and annual season tickets can be purchased from the Town Council Offices.

Carp to 35lb, Pike to 20lb and Roach to 1lb

What tactics work well?

You should use sweetcorn, floating baits, and floats for best results. Avoid bollies, nuts, and barbed hooks. Only use weights that are lead-free.
