Fishery Information

Hawton Waters is home to a 14-acre lake, and there is also access to the picturesque banks of the River Devon on site too. Fishing is permitted to private syndicate members, but day tickets are available to anyone visiting the site for a holiday as well.

During your trip to Hawton Waters, you could easily bag a PB from both the lake and the river. The river boasts some beautiful species, including some hard fighting river carp that offer a unique challenge to even seasoned anglers.

What size do the fish go to?

The current lake record is a beautiful 38lb carp known as Big Betty. Big Betty is almost a complete leather carp, but she has a few scales just below her dorsal fin. There are also other common, mirror and leather carp up to 30lbs as well as a host of tench, roach, bream, eels and pike to healthy weights as well.

What tactics work well?

Finding clear spots in the middle of the lake and baiting up healthily seems to be the best chance for the big ones. For a spot of match fishing, paying attention to the margins, putting a feeder out in the middle and baiting nicely with maggots or corn all work wonders.

What facilities are on site?

The facilities on this site include toilet and shower blocks as well as caravan pitches close to the lake.

Is parking available?

Park is available on site. There are also lakeside pitches for caravans too.
