Fishery Information

There are three lakes at this beautiful East Sussex complex, all of which are well stocked. All three lakes are perfect for match fishing, but there are some good carp in these lakes too. Of course, if you’re new to fishing, these lakes are also the perfect place to learn how to fish, and you’ll be catching quickly here because there are tonnes of silverfish to catch. Hampstead Ponds is sure to provide anglers of all levels with an excellent day’s fishing, no matter what species you want to target.

What size do the fish go to?

There are mirror and common carp in Hempstead Ponds to 20lbs plus. There are also Crucian carp, tench, bream, rudd, roach and eels to fish for too. Something quite exciting about this venue is that not many people fish it. So, there isn’t much info about the size of the fish other than the carp. Could there be a huge tench, Crucian or bream hiding in this lake?

What tactics work well?

If you’re after the carp at Hempstead Ponds, a bright bottom bait is a good idea. Try and find a clear patch in the middle of the lake. You can also try method feeding. Method feeders are one of the most under-utilised angling methods, and they can be absolutely devastating to carp, tench, larger bream and roach too.

What facilities are on site?
