Fishery Information

Owned by the Rydal Estates and the National Trust, Rydal Water is controlled by the Windermere, Ambleside and District Angling Association. This fishery lies alongside the main A591 Ambleside to Keswick road just after Rydal Village. Known as one of the area’s most accessible and scenic lakes, it offers some of the best pike fishing in the North West.

Open all year round, this water is home to stunning brown trout, pike, eels, perch, roach, sea trout and salmon. Boats are not permitted on the venue.

Fishing is permitted from 1 hour before sunrise until 1 hour after sunset. Night fishing, camping and use of tents are not allowed. Bivvies and shelters are permitted.

Use of live baits, lip grip devices, pike gags and keep nets are forbidden.
