Fishery Information

Wagtail Park is nestled in Huntington, York, in a prime location right off the York ring road. The park is situated on ten acres of beautifully landscaped parkland and it provides fishing options for anglers of varying experience levels. It is also an excellent location for your enjoyment and leisure, providing you with, if you so desire, a respite from touring the various attractions that Yorkshire has to offer. 

The pond has an adequate supply of oxygen, which is beneficial to both growth and wellbeing. In an effort to provide a greener environment, filters and plants have been carefully placed throughout.

Every other year, the lake is replenished with a wide variety of fish of the highest possible quality.. Carp, Crucian, Perch, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Tench, Chub, Ide, and Barbel are some of the fish found here. There is no night fishing allowed at this location.

What size do the fish go to?

Carp-20 lb, Crucian-2 lb, Perch-4 lb, Bream-5 lb, Roach- 2 lb, Rudd-2 lb, Tench-3 lb, Chub-2 lb, Ide-2 lb, Barbel-1 lb

What tactics work well?

Coarse fishing tactics with barbless hooks only, and No keep nets except on match days. Landing nets and carp mats to be used at all times but no method feeders,  braid, blood worm, jokers, cat/dog meat,  floating baits, or boilies allowed.

What facilities are on site?

Anglers toilet available if you’re just visiting for the day.
