Fishery Information

Have you ever dreamt about fishing on a big country estate lake? I know I have and if you stay at West Compton Manor then you get to fish the lakes as part of your stay. Other than that, its a private syndicate and there is a waiting list, so it could be worth joining the waiting list if you want to fish it in the future.

It really does look like a lovely place to fish and the lakes were made about 40 years ago but taken over and restored in 2007. The biggest lake is the middle lake and this contains the biggest fish. Some of which are part of the original stock from over 20 years ago,

Since then, the lakes have been restocked with plenty of carp. Some of these are believed to be from the strain of original carp brought into the UK by the monks in the 12th century.

People do swim in the lakes in the summer, so be warned that you may not have it all to yourself. Dogs also like to take a dip in the hot weather. The best time to fish is on a summer evening during dusk as there are all sorts of wildlife and you may even spot a deer or two.

What size do the fish go to?

There is no information but we imagine if it’s a syndicate that there’s some big fish in here.

What tactics work well?

Patience.

What facilities are on site?

We are not sure, but we think you will be able to use the toilets inside the manor.

Is parking available?

Yes, there is plenty of parking.
