This fishery is run by Earl of Harrington’s Angling Club.

Woodrow’s Pond is the smaller top pond at Derwent Valley Fishery. The water has undergone significant improvements, including bank re-grading, creation of pegs, planting, and stocking. Platforms have been installed to enhance fishing accessibility. Please be cautious of ropes installed due to cormorant predation and ensure safety while fishing. An Otter Fence has also been installed for added protection.

What size do the fish go to?

The fishery is stocked with various species. Over the past two seasons, Common and Mirror Carp have been stocked, along with more recent additions of Crucians and Bream. The silvers in the pond are thriving. There have been reports of specimen tench, with the largest catch weighing 10lbs 8ozs.

What tactics work well?

Successful tactics at Woodrow’s Pond include a variety of approaches. Carp anglers can try using traditional carp tactics such as boilies, pellets, and PVA bags. For the silvers, methods like float fishing with maggots, worms, or small pellets can yield good results. Experimenting with different bait presentations and techniques can help identify the most effective tactics for the day.
