Fishery Information

Avon Springs is located in Wiltshire close to the River Avon, and it provides exceptional fly fishing opportunities on its two lakes, which cover a total area of 2 acres. The spring-fed lakes have a healthy population of Rainbow Trout.

Rainbow trout ranging in size from two pounds up into the double digits are stocked daily in the 5-acre, crystal clear Club Lake. Excellent hatches of sedge, olive, and mayflies are plenty in the 3 Acre Willow Lake, which also features two islands and a stunningly peaceful setting.

Fishing is also available along 1 mile of the Upper Chalk Stream Avon, which complements the Lakes. Only brown trout have been stocked into this body of water, the vast majority of which are the authentic Avon strain. There is also a healthy head of grayling weighing up to three pounds.

Fly hatches in the river include mayfly, damselfly, and sedge, amongst many others. The beat is renowned for its excellent brown trout and grayling fishing and can accommodate up to four rods. The owners have meticulously maintained it.

The fishery contains a significant number of wild fish in addition to fish that were bred and raised on the premises and are the offspring of the original Avon native fish. The rule that only dry flies may be used during fishing is effective until June 1. You may use traditional nymphs after that date.
