Fishery Information

Blunts Mere is a recently treated fishery located in the Ulting countryside. It has a surface of around 2.7 acres and is mostly a mature gravel pit. In full-lake circumstances, the depth can go as low as 7 feet. On top of that, weed beds are also present in the shallow parts of the lake.

The fishery allows for both day and night fishing. However, anglers will need a permit for the latter (Chelmsford Angling Association manages this particular fishery).

When it comes to stock, the lake has everything an angler could wish for, including some special bits, so to say. As such, anglers can catch average Carp, a 36lbs common, mid-20s as well, Tench, Roach, Rudd, Crucian Carp, and Perch. For a better challenge, anglers might also hunt for a 5lbs Crucian hybrid.

Overall, Blunts Mere is equipped with everything the modern fisherman needs – on-site facilities, lots of swims, and decent fish stock to keep one busy for the entire day.

What size do the fish go to?

Carp averages at around 5 to 15lbs.

Carp upper-doubles and low-twenties are also available.

Tench of average size, around 6lbs.

Rudd and Roach of average size, above 3lbs.

Crucian Carp and Perch of up to 3lbs.

What tactics work well?

Given the common stock of the lake, common baits and tactics work just fine. Carp are best lured with bread, corn, sweetcorn, and boilies, while the rest of the species love worms, meat, and dead bait.

What facilities are on site?

On-site toilets.

Swims adapted for disabled anglers (2).

Is parking available?

One car park reportedly on site.

Roadside parking might be available as well.
