Fishery Information

Part of the Chelmsford Angling Association, the Braxted Reservoir is located near Chelmsford, Essex. The actual fishing surface is of 6 acres and is also nearing 20 feet by the Dam.

The fishery is perfect for anglers that are after large catches. It is stocked with large carp – species average at 20lbs at the moment, while the record stands at 41lbs. For increased variety, Roach, Rudd, Perch, and Tench are also present in the lake.

An interesting characteristic of this fishery is its depth – ranging from 3 to 18ft deep. As a result, fish move about a lot and the anglers must follow them. On top of that, warmer months bring an increased number of fish in the shallows. With the right weather and during the right time of the year, commons can go as high as 39lbs, making for a great catch!

Access to the fishing waters is based on club membership or on permits/tickets, which range from £25 for Juniors to £64 for Seniors. Ladies and Senior Citizens enjoy a neat discount.

What size do the fish go to?
