Fishery Information

Clubbiedean is a family friendly fishery which caters for Fly Anglers & bait fishers of all ages and abilities. Located only ten minutes from Edinburgh in stunning scenery up the Pentland Hills.

What size do the fish go to?

At Clubbiedean, you can find wild brownies, double figure rainbows, and blue trout. The wild brown trout can be found hiding under trees and can be of a considerable size.

What tactics work well?

There are various tactics that work well at Clubbiedean, including wet, dry, nymph, or lure fishing. Floating or sinking lines can be used, and stalking is possible on the south bank. Fly fishing from boats allows for drifting traditional flies and getting close to overhanging trees to present a dry fly to cruising brown trout. Bait fishing is available using ledgered weight or floats, with worms, maggots, or wasp grubs working very well.

What facilities are on site?

Facilities at Clubbiedean include permits from as little as £15, rowing boats available for hire, rod hire, bait, basic tackle, tea/coffee, and a WC. There are boats with anchors and safety jackets for fly fishing, and bait fishing is available only from the bank.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is available next to the loch, making it easy to get on the water or consult with staff about tactics. Please be aware that this is a country park, and there are a lot of walkers on the road. Keep your speed at five mph or less.
