Fishery Information

College Farm is a family run lake in Oxfordshire. It is a spring-fed lake that offers an excellent feeding ground for the many different species of fish that call it home. Despite this only being a one-acre lake, it is home to some beautiful 25lb mirror and common carp. It is also over 10ft deep in some spots, giving the angler a nice challenge when it comes to bagging the big ones.

What size do the fish go to?

As well as mirrors and commons reaching 25lbs, there are also nice sized Crucian carp, bream, roach, rudd, tench and chub in this lake too.

What tactics work well?

If you are going to College Farm to try and catch the big ones, arriving at opening time (6am) offers the best chance of seeing them. Once you have located them on the surface, a solid bag, single hookbait or even a zig rig at certain times of the year could see you net one of the finest examples in the lake. For the rest of the species, corn will offer a blinding day’s fishing. Don’t ignore the bottom, though. Fishing on the bottom with a feeder full of maggots, for example, could result in a fast and furious fight with one of the lakes hard-fighting tench.

What facilities are on site?

This lake doesn’t have many facilities, but it does have swims designed for disabled anglers close to the car park. It is also available for matches.

Is parking available?

An off-road car park is available.
