There are 145 hard based pegs, 137 of which are available for pleasure anglers and the remaining 8 pegs are placed on the specimen pools.

Ideal for margin fishing, the Becketts Pool has two inside ledges. It has 32 well-spaced pegs that are easily accessible from the car park. This water has a good stock of carp to 10 lbs., tench and crucians to 1 lb., roach and skimmers.

Opened in March 2009, the Bridge Pool runs on day ticket basis. Ideal for both pleasure and match anglers, this water is open for match bookings.

Restocked in February 2010, the Top Pool is known as the fishery’s match pool. Boasting a large number of hard based pegs that are approachable via wheel chair access, this water is home to carp to 16 lbs., perch and tench.

What tactics work well?

For Becketts Pool: Feeder is popular for large catches. This is best fished tight to the islands and in between the two islands. Best baits include pellet, paste, meat and corn. Recommendations for set up are size 12-14 elastic, 5 to 6-lb. line and 16 hook size is general set up.

For Bridge Pool: This water is ideal for pole, waggler and feeder fishing.

For Top Pool: Key baits include pellet, paste, corn and maggot in the colder months. Strong tackle is essential to land the carp as they fight very hard. 6 to 7-lb. main line, size 14-16 elastics and size 14-18 hooks will cope with most of the fish. Hot pegs include 1 and 28 in the shallows and pegs 8, 12, 14, 15, 18, 20.

For Middle Pool: Popular baits include maggot, caster and worm for the silvers, with bread punch being a deadly bait in the winter and pellet or corn for the tench and carp on the pole or waggler. Depths vary from 1.5 ft to 4 ft. There are plenty of reed beds/lilies and inside features to fish to. This pool also benefits from having an Island where the majority of the large carp tend to reside “in the reeds”. It is an ideal lake for beginners as it is mainly silver fish that are targeted, light lines and small hooks are required for constant sport.

For Bottom Pool: Best baits include maggot, caster, worm and bread for the silvers and pellet, meat or corn for the larger fish. Depths vary from 1.5 feet to 8 feet.
