Situated 4 miles outside of Leicester, Cropston Angling is a stunning reservoir that offers excellent fishing for the keen Trout and Pike angler. The site is completely private, with membership operating on a seasonal basis from April 1st to October 31st each year.

Boat fishing is permitted as well as casting from the banks. Additionally, there are several suitable spots located close to the car park, which are ideal for the disabled and elderly angler.

The waters are regularly restocked and boast a healthy quantity of Trout and Pike.

What size do the fish go to?

Both Brown and Rainbow Trout tend to average between 2-8lbs, with a small number hitting double figures. Furthermore, Pike are frequently landed in excess of 10lbs, with larger specimen exceeding 15lbs.

What tactics work well?

Using a dry sedge pattern and buzzer can work very well for Brown Trout, which tend to lie deeper in the water. Also, casting short and staying back from the water’s edge reduces the chance of spooking the fish.
