Fishery Information

The Exeter Ship canal is a very wide canal and is 6 miles long which does make it a lot smaller than a lot of canals out there.

Although its full of a lot ot different species, its well known in the South West for being one of the best Pike venues in that part of the country. 20lb pike are regularly caught and some in the low 30’s have been caught which does make it a very special Pike venue. Both dead baits or lures work well for the Pike.

The canal is split unto 2 sections. Free fishing is allowed between the Basin and Double Locks but the rest of the canal is controlled by the Exeter and District Angling Association. You can buy a permit to fish thee from the Angling Centre on Smythen Street in Exeter.
