Fishery Information

Haverhill Flood Park is a beautiful lake that has some brilliant fishing. It is a mixed fishery full of interesting species. It is ideal for match-style anglers, although there are a few 20lb carp in the lake for any carp anglers wanting to catch a big one. There is also plenty of smaller silverfish, which makes this lake an ideal spot for a beginner or those wanting to practise with the pole. There are also 30 pegs, so there is usually a swim for every angler that arrives early.

What size do the fish go to?

The carp here go up to about 20lbs. There are also perch, roach and rudd to a few pounds. Tench to 5lbs and some double-figure pike. The pike are not easy to catch, which is good for anyone not wanting to target predators.

What tactics work well?

The carp here respond well to loads of different fishing tactics. However, PVA bags full of pellets, groundbait and corn seem to work best. You can top the bag off with some liquid attract; a sweet smell is great. For the rest of the fish, some corn and plenty of groundbait can create quite the feeding spell. For those wanting to target larger tench, maggots are a great choice; a closed feeder would be a go-to option for us.

What facilities are on site?

There are no facilities on site currently.

Is parking available?

Yes, the car park is on Wethersfield Road, which is the main entrance to the lake.
