Fishery Information
Lakeside Fishery in Ranskill is a fishing complex owned and operated by the same family for over 25 years. The abundance of trout, silver fish, and carp in the location makes it a year-round hotspot for anglers of all skill levels. There are five lakes within the fishery that include a specimen carp lake, the main match lake, as well as two smaller strip ponds.
The match lake is home to tens of thousands of ide, which are exceptional feeders throughout the year, in addition to skimmers, chub, tench, roach, and lots of carp. It is not uncommon for anglers with weights exceeding 100 pounds to win matches at the mixed fishery. The 40-peg match lake products consistent outstanding weights throughout the entire year.
What size do the fish go to?
Carp to 30lb plus, while trout can go up to 20lb.
What tactics work well?
Chopped worms and red maggots or casters seem to yield the finest weights on this lake when pole fishing. Anglers who fish the smaller Strip Ponds with their poles pitched down the side will have better outcome. On the other hand, anglers who fish the Specimen Lake with fishmeal or fruit-flavored boilies will have the most success catching carp weighing more than 30 pounds.
