Layer Pit Information

This particular fishery can be found roughly 4 miles away from Colchester, just outside Layer-de-la-Haye. It is well-known for its big fish and, naturally, impressive catches. For example, anglers have enjoyed here 40lbs Carp in excess, as some reports suggest.

The fishing surface of the lake is around 14 acres – more than enough to give all the anglers on it equal chances to a rare catch. Reportedly, Carp is in abundance and is accompanied by a wide variety of other species, such as Roach, Pike, Bream, Eels, Perch, and Tench.

Keep in mind that access to the Layer Pit is based on club membership or permit. Anglers who wish to fish here must pay a fee to do so.

When it comes to the surroundings of the lake, they are extremely peaceful, as there are no major roads nearby. On top of that, the lake is lined with trees, making for cool summer fishing sessions.
