Fishery Information

Offering some day ticket fishing and a whole lot of cracking catfish action, the Mill Pools Fishery is a highlight of Warwickshire.

This stillwater fishery is a two-acre lake snuggled against the scenery of an old corn mill, right in the heart of Barby village.

About four years ago, the lake was drained and dug out to allow for a bit of renovation. The good people at Mill Pools added new features and crafted new depths, following up with a restocking process that boosted the quality of fish in the water.

The grounds are also terrific, with splendour year-round. This is one of those places that looks as glorious in the warm months as it does in the cold, even if the chills do impact the fishing.

Day and night sessions are available. Pre-booking is recommended by contacting the fishery.

What size do the fish go to?

Carp range from the low double-digits to the 27-pound spot, while the catfish are enormous at up to 100 pounds. There is a legendary 106-pounder in Mill Pools, so get ready for a challenge.

What tactics work well?

Weather counts at Mill Pools in a big way, so watch the conditions before planning a day. Catfish are a battle to bring down, but the glory is there for the taking.

A note: catfish at Mill Pools tend to really dig the zig rigs. One lucky angler turned up a 47-pounder with a piece of corn.

What facilities are on site?

Facilities are on the lean side at Mill Pools Fishery, but ownership is incredibly friendly and takes fishing personally.

Is parking available?

There is parking at this site.
