Fishery Information

Monkhopton Shropshire’s Monkhall Fishery has six coarse fishing pools, self-catering accommodations, and a small caravan park on 27 acres of picturesque Shropshire countryside, and it’s only 10 minutes from Bridgnorth.

The Buzzard Pool at Monkhall was excavated in April 2017, stocked in March 2018, and opened for fishing in 2019. With 16 pegs and a substantial stock of hard fighting carp, f1s, ide, and barbel the buzzard is a favorite with fishermen.

There are 14 pegs in the Hawk Pool, which is slightly over an acre in size, and it boasts a pool record of 409lb 8oz. There are thousands of ide, skimmers, and a few small tench and crucians in the lake.

The smallest of the pools, Kingfisher features a stone road leading to 11 good-sized pegs. It is infrequently used for match fishing and boasts a decent record weight of 124lb 4oz. Carp,  f1s  as well as the usual silver fish are common here.

Lark Pool is a lovely pool at the top of the property with stunning views and a record 283lb 8oz. The pool area is surrounded by a stone path and wide wooden platforms. It has a big number of f1s, Tench, Crucian, Ide and Carp.

In the Owl pool, you’ll find an abundance of f1s, carp  tons of chub, tench and the usual silver fish. There are presently 15 large timber pegs on Owl, the first five of which are on the island and the rest of  around the outer fringes.

 Swallow Pool has 20 pegs stocked we  F1s small tench, crucians, and ide are also included. There is a stone road that goes all the way around the pool,  leading  to the wooden platforms.

What size do the fish go to?

Depending on the lake, carp can go from 10 to over 20lb.

What tactics work well?

To attract a variety of species, use a long pole with pellet and corn, paste in the track, and maggots in the margins or the track itself.
