Fishery Information

Located in Bridgnorth that is known for stunning views, castle ruins and historic railway, Nordley Pools consists of a series of 6 pools with easy access. The first 5 pools are available to be booked for fishing competitions. All pools, which are between 5 and 8 feet in depth, are home to various fish species including bream, carp, crucian carp, perch, roach, rudd, skimmer and tench. These pools have carp that weigh over 25 lbs., so it is popular with pleasure anglers and specimen hunters.

Pools 1 and 2 hold the largest carp. On the other hand, pools 3 and 4 have carp in double figures rather than 20s. Pools 5 and 6 have good stocks of carp up to 5 lbs.. Pegs on the windward banks reportedly fish better.

Day tickets are no longer available for this fishery. Visitors are required to have annual membership tickets before fishing. Night fishing is not allowed on this venue.

Carp go up to 25 lbs., bream to 6 lbs., crucian carp to 1 lb. 8 oz., and rudd to 8 oz..

What tactics work well?

Pole fishing with gear matched to landing carp works best for fishing on this venue. Other recommended tactics include use of banded hard pellets on shallow rigs and regular loose feed. The latter tactic is known to pull fish into range and bring them up in the water. Waggler with maggot brings nets of smaller fish at comfortable catapult range over 6 feet of water.

Floating baits are effective for bigger carp in Pools 1 and 2. Overhanging reeds and grasses are good for margin fishing into two feet of water with paste, luncheon meat or corn.
