Fishery Information

Located in the New Forest national park, Orchard Lakes is surrounded by 56 acres of farmland. The well-established lakes are now recognized as having one of the most abundant fisheries in the southern region, having grown rapidly over the course of many years.

The six lakes at Orchard Lakes are stocked with 12 different species of fish, so there is something for everyone to enjoy. The fishery features a wide variety of fishing opportunities, such as competitive fishing and species hunting, where giant carp, bream, and tench.

The lakes are:

Match Lake is a snake-shaped match fishing lake that features 44 pegs and regularly yields match catches that weigh more than 350 pounds. The depths of the lakes range from 2 feet, to a maximum of 6 feet. The lake’s width is roughly 14 meters.

Main Lake is a 26-peg lake that is popular with anglers who fish for carp and silver fish. The water in this lake is stocked with several good-sized fish, including mirror carp that can weigh up to 26 pounds, ghost carp that can weigh up to 18 pounds, and common carp that may weigh up to 23 pounds.

Tench Lake is a scenic fishing lake that has various features, including lily pads, overhanging plants and trees, and other fishing opportunities. Along with perch and chub, the lake has been stocked with some beautiful tench as well as some monster carp.

Aikin’s Pool is a small pool with ten pegs that has hosted matches with weights of more than 100 pounds.

Jakes Pond is a fantastic body of water for novice anglers and younger fishermen who are just starting out. The pond has seven pegs and is stocked with crucian carp, small carp, roach, perch, bream, and gudgeon.
