Fishery Information

Located near the Muckley Island roundabout on the A5, Pipehill Fisheries features a total of five pools – two of which are comparatively new.

Pipehill Fisheries was initially developed as part of a diversification project on a 500-acre farm about 15 years ago. Part of the land was a duck pond, while another part was accurately known for being a hole in the ground.

That hole in the ground has since been renovated, along with the duck pond, and the titans known as Alders Pool and Hollybush Pool were born.

Hollybush is one of the oldest pools at Pipehill. Surrounded by shrubs and trees, this pool is four feet deep. The waters are stocked with a mix of roach, bream, tench, carp, perch, ghost carp, and crucians.

The Alders Pool has plenty of silver fish and carp. The deepest spot measures about six feet down, with shallows of about one and a half feet. Alders has a lot of features, with alders making the place look gorgeous in the summer months.

Willow Pool is rectangular with a big island down the middle. This pool is five and a half feet deep, with a planted two-foot shelf around the perimeter.

Birch Pool is two acres of roach, perch, carp, chub, and barbel. It’s five and a half feet deep, with an island dotting the landscape.

Chestnut Pool is the last of them. This one-acre lake was dug at the same time as Birch Pool. There’s a sunken island in the middle, and lighter fare in the water for those looking for stress-free angling.

What size do the fish go to?

Mirror and ghost carp up to 16 pounds can be fished out of Birch Pool, while 20-pound carp are living their best lives in Alders Pool.

Fish in Hollybush are usually under 10 pounds, making it a great spot for some light fishing.

What tactics work well?

Pole-fishing and ledgering on a rod work well at Alders Pool. The features present plenty of opportunities to fish to.

What facilities are on site?

Facilities are lean at Pipehill Fisheries, but there are toilets on site.

Is parking available?

There is ample parking.
