Fishery Information

If sea trout fishing is your thing, River Kent is a must-visit for you. This water has its source in Kentmere Reservoir and flows through Burneside, where it meets the River Sprint. Having many waterfalls and weirs, this water also offers game fishing for salmon. Various fishing methods are allowed, including fly, worm, and spinning, depending on the time of year.

The Kent Angling Association controls fishing on some 8 miles of the River Kent around the town of Kendal. Memberships and permits are available for this fishery.

What size do the fish go to?

Salmon go to 20 pounds, wild brown trout to 5 lbs and sea trout to 10 pounds.

What tactics work well?

Fly, worm and spinning techniques work well for this water. It is best to fish salmon from June until October. This water provides good sport for sea trout from July until August.

What facilities are on site?

Parking is plentiful in the village and in lay-bys along the roads.
