Fishery Information

Controlled by the York & District Amalgamation of Anglers, River Nidd Knaresborough is perfect for those who are looking for a pristine fishery surrounded by exquisite nature. This day ticket water is lightly fished and available for night fishing. Please note that prior arrangement via the Waters Secretary is required for those who are interested to fish at night.

This fishery boasts a few established pegs that suit a roving approach. It is home to stunning brown trout, chub, grayling, dace and barbel. A 12 lb 11 oz specimen was caught on this venue in 1977.

To get there, follow these directions. From York take the A59 to Knaresborough, turning left at ring road onto the A658. Park on the roadside, in the lay by, or in front of the access gates approximately 400 yards from the roundabout. After walking through the gates, follow the wire fence to the river side. Walking upstream takes you under the road bridge to the upstream limit at the sewerage treatment works.

Specimen go to 12 lbs 11 oz.

Fish responds well not only to a running line and maggots, but also the fly.
