Fishery Information

South Leicestershire is home to the well-established coarse fishing venue of Shearsby Valley Lakes. On the club match circuit, it is well known for regular weights that consistently exceed well over 100 lb. The complex features four lakes: Sunset, Hurricane, Tornado, and Willow. Each lake is home to a unique collection of aquatic life. The venue is open 365 days a year, and the tackle shop sells day passes for admission to the venue.

The depth of Sunset Lake ranges from 18 inches in the margins to 6 feet down the track and then back to a sunken island in the center at a depth of about 2 feet. The lake is divided into 13 double pegs. It has a healthy stock of 18 different species of fish, the majority of which are silverfish, a large head of quality bream, roach, ide, chub, and perch, as well as a good stock of medium sized tench, Crucian carp, and barbel.

The match fishing lakes are Tornado and Hurricane Lakes, each with 18 pegs. Both are heavily stocked with carp, a good head of double-figure fish as well as a large amount of F1 fish in a variety of sizes. Both of the lakes have been stocked with the same number and weight of fish to ensure that every angler has an equal chance of winning a match, regardless of which lake they are assigned to fish in. The lakes can be rented separately or as a pair.

Willow Lake is the newest lake and stocked with F1s, carp, and a healthy population of silvers.
