Fishery Information

A members-only fishery near Abridge in Essex, Stollies Lake is a 200-year-old body of water. It features 20 pegs and two islands, which extend to about 0.8 acres. A woodland belt features a variety of trees. The lake is on the small side, but size definitely isn’t everything at this locale.

The site owners have dedicated time to making a number of new improvements at Stollies Lake. The London Anglers Association cleaned up aquatic vegetation and enhanced the water quality. The fishing pegs are a relatively new addition, another sign of the Association’s quality investments.

The fishery is well-stocked with common carp and mirror carp, as well as crucians, rudd, roach, tench, and chub.

Stollies Lake is open year round. There are night passes available, according to reports, and day tickets are sold.

What size do the fish go to?

Common and mirror carp in Stollies Lake ranges up to 28 pounds. Crucian carp come in around three pounds, with rudd and roach at a pound. Tench charts up at five pounds, while the chub clocks in in the neighbourhood of three pounds.

What tactics work well?

Barbed hooks are not permitted. Anglers must have a decent-sized landing net and an unhooking mat.

What facilities are on site?

There is a steel container on the premises.

Is parking available?

Parking is adjacent at Stollies Lake. An arrangement has been made with the nearby landowner to provide parking at the moment, but future plans from the London Anglers Association include addressing the matter on a more permanent basis.
