Fishery Information

Straight Mile Fisheries is a purpose-built fishery, and you can tell that from the shape of the lake. The lake is set out to maximise the number of anglers that can fish it at the same time while still giving them plenty of space. There are two long islands and a central platform that anglers can fish from, and you can also fish from both banks. Pretty much every peg has an island to fish to, and there are some marginal reeds as well. This is very much a match lake and holds plenty of fish to make match fishing exciting and busy.

What size do the fish go to?

Straight Mile Fisheries keeps the fish in the lake stocked very nicely. They have recently added more f1s into the lake and plan on adding more soon. There is also barbel, carp, bream, skimmers, roach and rudd, as well as more. So, if you love match fishing, Straight Mile is a great place to build a good weight over a session, but it is a fantastic lake for learning how to fish too.

What tactics work well?

Waggler or pole fishing work brilliantly here. So does method feeding and other feeder tactics. Groundbait, pellet, corn and maggots are the ideal baits. Fish to the island to start with, but bait a margin swim too. Once the action dies down at the island, move to your short swim.

What facilities are on site?

There some disabled access pegs near the car park.

Is parking available?

There is a large car park at Straight Mile Fisheries.
