Fishery Information

Located between Haynes and Cotton End in Bedfordshire, Summerfields Trout Fishery is well-situated in quaint countryside. This spot has been operating as a trout fishery since the late 1970s.

The N-shaped lake features depths averaging eight feet, with the deepest areas ranging all the way to 35 feet. The man-made reservoir measures two and a half acres, with plenty of wildlife to surround it.

There are fishing spots ideal for beginners and experienced anglers alike at Summerfields, with flat and dry banks making it easy to set up at a good peg.

According to reports, the trout are known to put up a bit of a fight. Anglers looking for a battle or two would be well-served venturing to Summerfields Trout Fishery, especially in the summer.

What size do the fish go to?

Trout in Summerfields are supplied at a minimum of two pounds. Some clock in higher than that, so be prepared for some fun in the sun and even a little sweat on the brow. There are also some roach and rudd in the lake.

What tactics work well?

Fishing at Summerfields takes a bit of energy, as the fight is on when the trout jump the line. Even some of the more seasoned anglers have found these fish somewhat on the troublesome side, but that makes the catch all the sweeter in the end.

Please note that this is a fly fishing only site. Fishing must be done from the bank.

Fish over six pounds must be returned to the water. Brown trout are to be returned to the lake.

As of March 1, 2021, Summerfields is a private members syndicate fishery. Membership applications can be found on the official website.

What facilities are on site?

Facilities on site at Summerfields Trout Fishery are on the lean side. It is noted that there is no rubbish bin.

There are toilets on the premises for members.
