Fishery Information

Right in the countryside of Worcestershire beside the Wyre Forest is the lovely Wellfield Pools Fishery. This is a family-run spot, featuring seven pools and cottages for rent for those seeking a total escape.

Howard’s Pool has depths of four to eight feet, with a primary focus on silver fish. There are also tench, bream, roach, rudd, chub, gudgeon, and crucians in these waters.

Jack’s Pool is also four to eight feet deep. This is stocked with mostly carp, but there are some common, mirror, and ghosties as well. Keep an eye out for crucians and F1s.

Meaton Pool is two to four and a half feet deep, with stock of F1s, bream, crucians, and perch.

Little Carp Pool is, as the name suggests, designed for junior anglers. This has depths of two and a half feet and stock of small carp, roach, bream, rudd, and gudgeon.

The Old Trout Pool is not filled with old trout. Instead, this runs depths of two to nine feet and has stocks of common, mirror, ghost, and crucian carp along with pockets of perch and roach.

The Swimming Pool is four to 14 feet of carp, bream, and roach.

Two to nine foot depths await in Island Pool, the home to common, mirror, ghost, and crucian carp.

What size do the fish go to?

The carp in Meaton Pool span up to 16 pounds.

Carp in the Swimming Pool are anywhere from three to 25 pounds, so bring a lifejacket.

What tactics work well?

Barbless hooks only.

Keepnets must be removed and all fish released by 5:00 pm.

Groundbait is permitted but within reason.

Dogs must be kept on leads.

What facilities are on site?

The holiday cottages are available for hire by the weekend or week-long packages. There are two cottages in total and both are just a short walk from the waters.
