Fishery Information:

White Lough is located by Rehaghy Mountain, near Aughnacloy. The fishery is regularly stocked with takeable rainbow trout and is also home to pike. Fishing methods include fly fishing, spinning and worm fishing for trout, with fly fishing being the only permitted method from boats. Bait fishing for pike is allowed with specific restrictions on hooks and deadbaiting.

The minimum takeable size for fish at White Lough is 24.5cm.

What tactics work well?

Fly fishing, spinning and worm fishing are effective methods for catching trout. When fishing from boats, fly fishing is the only allowed method. For pike, bait fishing with barbless hooks or hooks with flattened barbs is allowed. Deadbaiting is also permitted using one rod only, with a minimum bait size of 100mm.

What facilities are on site?

There are two disabled fishing stands accessible directly from the car park. A hardcore and boardwalk path leads from the car park around the shoreline, where fishing stands are provided. Fishing is allowed from non-mechanical boats only.

Is parking available?

Yes, there is a car park available with direct access to disabled fishing stands.

Additional Information:

A DAERA game rod licence and a DAERA game angling permit are required to fish at White Lough, even when fishing for pike. Visitors are allowed to walk around the shore but are asked to respect private land owners’ adjoining land. Small boats are permitted, but power boats are not.
