Wigmore lakes is a 2 lake complex just outside Shrewsbury. It is popular with match anglers and has regular competitions on the match pool all year round. The match pool is well stocked with sliver fish and small carp, averaging around 3lb. This lake is closed to day tickets if there is a match on, unless you want to join in the match. Large nets of fish are caught from this lake with comaptions being on with over 60lb of fish. It has recently has some silt removed to make it deeper.
The second lake is known as the carp lake and is by the lakeside lodges. This is open to lodge guest as well as day ticket fishers. The carp in here go to arlund 12lb to 14lb and th average is around 6lb. There is a central island to fosh too or more open water at the further end. Night fihsing is allowed on this lake.
What size do the fish go to?
The carp go to around 14lb, the tench to 11lb. This information was taken from regualr site vistiors who know the lakes well.
What tactics work well?
On the match lake pole tactics are popular, as well as small metod feeders. On the carp lake metod feeders also work well along with soild bags and pva mesh of pellets. The fish respond well to feeding.
What facilities are on site?
The site has camping faciliries for tents and caravans or motor homes. As such there are toiliets and showers on site. The site also has a small number of holiday lodges, a couple of which are on the lake.
Is parking available?
Parking is available on site. There is no parking by your peg.
