Fishery Information

The Wing Fishing Lakes can be found in Rutland, in a picturesque and idyllic setting, about 3 miles from Uppingham and about the same distance from Rutland Water.

The grounds of Wing Hall contain two well-sized lakes, both with a healthy fish stock. The lakes were designed to present challenges to anglers of varying skill levels and contain a variety of coarse fish such as roach, bream, and tench in addition to five distinct species of carp.

The first lake is approximately two acres in size and contains a variety of fish species. The second lake is an s-shaped match lake teeming with carp.

What size do the fish go to?

So far, the largest reported catch was a 27lbs Carp – locally known as ‘Nessie’.  More regular catches are 15lbs carp.

What tactics work well?

Best baits for big fish is luncheon meat, maggots and sweetcorn. You need a landing net, unhooking mat, barbless hooks and no line over 10 pound.
