Fishery Information

Situated in a tranquil setting near Wigan, Whittington Fisheries offers an excellent day’s sport to both the beginner and more seasoned angler. The venue comprises of 3 lakes in total, all of which are stocked with a healthy variety of Carp, Roach, Rudd, Tench and Bream.

The Horseshoe Lake takes its name because of the curvature in its shape. It has a total of 19 pegs, 2 of which are fully accessible to the elderly and disabled angler. In general, this spot tends to be used for leisure fishing rather than matches.

Rivington View is the signature match lake. There are a total of 30 pegs, several of which offer access to the elderly and disabled. The waters can also be used for leisure angling, providing they are not booked for matches.

The Canals consist of 2 × 220m 16m wide canal lengths. There are a total of 20 pegs, all of which are fully accessible to the disabled and elderly angler. The spot is ideal for both pleasure and match angling.

What size do the fish go to?

Tench, Roach, Rudd and Bream tend to weigh between 2-7lbs. Carp are commonly landed in double figures, with larger fish exceeding 20lbs.

What tactics work well?

Using a feeder with worms, maggots or sweetcorn can help to entice the larger carp. Utilising pellets and boilies may also be a viable option during the warmer months.

Clean and accessible toilets are open to visitors.
