Fishery Information

Alvechurch Fisheries features four lakes and a host of modern amenities, making it an ideal location to spend the day and get some angling in.

The action starts with Horseshoe Lake, about two acres in size. This is the first lake most people see when they arrive at Alvechurch Fisheries. Available for pleasure fishing and matches, this spot features 30 decked pegs that meet BDAA standards for disabled anglers. It’s stocked with a variety of fish, including carp, tench, ide, roach, barbel, bream, rudd, crucians, and more.

Colmic Canal Lake was made using state-of-the-art laser measuring technology, which ensures the swims are uniform and the fishing is grand. Depths are six feet down in the channel, with two-foot depths in the shelf around the margins.

Arrow Lake measures just under one and a half acres in size and is the smallest match lake on the complex. Depths are between four and six feet. Small club matches and pleasure fishing are popular on this lake.

The House Pool is the specimen spot at Alvechurch Fisheries. With 22 wooden platforms and three disabled platforms, this lake runs to depths up to just about 10 feet.

What size do the fish go to?

The current five-hour match record for Horseshoe Lake is over 200 pounds.

What tactics work well?

Fishing with a pole at 13 metres with an expander pellet and feed 4mm pellets will turn up the good stuff in Horseshoe Lake.

Fishing to the island is popular on Colmic Canal Lake, while fishing maggots shallow can turn up big bags of silver fish.

At Arrow Lake, quality results turnup when fishing a dozen metres down the channel. Try feeding micro pellets for carp on a 4mm expander.

Fishing with a rod using a zig rig is bound to turn up top-notch catches on House Pool.

What facilities are on site?

There is a clubhouse and café at Alvechurch Fisheries, plus a bait and tackle shop. Anglers can have food delivered to their pegs.

Is parking available?

There is ample parking on the premises.
