Fishery Information

Ampthill Reservoir is the flagship water of Ampthill & Distrct Anglers. It is a small venue, at just 1 acre in size but it has a rich history and is well looked after. It was actually built by monks from Ampthill Castle and is located in the lovely Ampthill Park.

Its a spring fed lake with the water running down from the surrounding hill. Therefore, the water is of great quality which allows the fish and plant life to thrive.

There’s a lot of carp in here, with the majority ranging from 1lb to 8lb but the biggest go to about 2lb.

In total there are 21 pegs which is quite a lot for a 1-acre lake. However, the good news is that no bivvies or night fishing are allowed, so this is a lake that’s suited to the pleasure angler and not for specimen anglers.

There are some nice lily pads and reeds which produce good results.
