Charlecombe Pond

Fishery Information

Located just outside of Newton Abbott is Charlecombe Pond. The fishery contains a good mix of carp, silverfish, big bream and even some nice crucian carp.

In the middle, it’s about 6ft deep with the margins being about 1ft which are great for the summer. We recommend f fishing close to the islands for the bigger fish or down the margins.

What’s different about this pond is that there are no numbered platforms or any particular fishing stages. Therefore, you can feel free to fish where ever you want. We quite like the idea of that!

Also stocked with bream, roach, rudd and crucians

What size do the fish go to?

The carp go to about 20lb with some decent sized silverfish

What tactics work well?

Margins and off the island best bet for the carp.

As there’s quite a lot of silver fish, we recommend using larger baits to target the carp or you may get pestered by small fish all day.

What facilities are on site?

Some pegs are suitable for disabled anglers but there are no toilets.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is available as there’s a dedicated car park at one end of the lake.
