Fishery Information

Set in the magnificent Ashmoor Copse are the Ashmoor Lakes, a site featuring three lakes spread over an acre of land. These spots feature 36 swims, with plenty of reedy features for fishing exploration.

Ashmoor’s trio of lakes is connected underground by pipes, which allows the fish to move between the sites. This innovation means no one body of water is without a variety of fish or a variety of experiences.

The first lake has 10 swims, but the bank nearest the field is not fishable.

The second lake features islands, with 14 swims. It’s one of the most popular spots at Ashmoor.

The third lake is the newest spot at the site. It’s fed predominantly by underwater springs. Anglers can only fish from the far bank here, but there are a dozen swims.

Ashmoor is a mixed species fishery, with lots of bream, carp, roach, rudd, tench, barbel, and perch. Other surprises include grass carp, golden rudd, chub, crucians, golden orfe, and even goldfish.

Birds, snakes, and woodpeckers are also part of the environment at this natural setting.

What size do the fish go to?

Common carp run up to 22 pounds at Ashmoor, while mirrors clock in up to 25 pounds. Crucians are at two pounds, chub are about a pound, and rudd can run a pound and eight ounces.

Barbel rank in the six-round range and a new, scrappy fish at Ashmoor. Bream are found in large quantities and weigh in up to four pounds.

What tactics work well?

Location matters at Ashmoor Lakes, so be mindful of where the fish are biting and seek out the action.

Anglers must fish from designated swims only and are not allowed to sit between swims. One swim per angler.

Booking is not on the menu, so show up early to snag a swim and get started.

All nets must be dipped before use. All hooks must be barbless and under size 10. And all dogs must be good but unfortunately left at home.

Fly fishing, bait boats, fires, radios, booze, keepnets, braided lines, spinners, lures, and spectators are all prohibited from Ashmoor Lakes.

The facility is monitored by CCTV cameras.

What facilities are on site?

There are toilets at Ashmoor, but they may be closed. Check the website for details.

Is parking available?
