Charity Lakes Fishery

Managed by the Great Witchingham Fuel Allotment Charity, Charity Lakes are situated on Lenwade Common. This venue boasts 3 beautiful lakes that are between 2 and 5 acres in size. The depths of the lakes vary between 5 and 15 feet. These waters are usually very clear and hold a good variety of fish.

The Main Lake is the largest lake on site, with a size of 5.7 acres. At one time, it was home to Norfolk’s largest carp “Baby Face,” with a weight of 53.10 lbs.. Even though it is not known for tench fishing, the Main Lake is home to tench to 12.12 lbs..

The Tench Lake is known as one of the best tench lakes in Norfolk. This 4-acre lake is heavily stocked with tench to 6 lbs. but still produces plenty of fish up to double figures. In addition to tench, there are other fish species that are present in this water, including mirror carp to over 40 lbs., ghost carp to 32 lbs. and grass carp to 39 lbs.. Pike fishing during winter months can produce fish to 24 lbs.. Careful bait placement is key to success on this water.

The Long Lake is a 2.5-acre long narrow lake lined with trees and full of interesting bays with overhanging branches and reed lined margins. This water is perfect for carp stalking or margin tench fishing. It also offers plenty of swims to choose from. With depths between 8 and 12 feet, the majority of this water is usually clear throughout the year. This lake produces tench up to 9 lbs., bream to double figures and beautiful carp to mid 20s.
