Fishery Information

Situated in a tranquil location near Horncastle, Elmhirst Lakes is an ideal spot for the dedicated Carp angler. The site comprises of a 3-acre spring-fed lake plus 3 ponds, all of which offer excellent fishing.

The mature trees that surround the venue offer anglers a sense of privacy, as well as providing shelter from the elements. Furthermore, fishing features such as reeds, lily pads and pools add to the serenity of the surroundings. Also, the surrounding Lincolnshire woods are home to a number of wildlife species, making Elmhirst Lakes the optimum spot for a relaxing getaway.

The lakes are open only to guests of the campsite and are home to a variety of coarse fish, such as Bream, Tench, Perch, Roach and Carp.

What size do the fish go to?

Tench, Bream, Roach and Perch tend to weigh between 3 and 8lbs. Carp are landed with frequency in double figures, with the larger specimen being recorded in excess of 20lbs.

What tactics work well?

Standard still water methods tend to work well. Additionally, anglers like to use worms, sweetcorn, or maggots as bait. Also, it can be beneficial to utilise pellets and boilies during the summer.
