Fishery Information

Kilthorpe Pools in Rutland are two very old lakes that were once used by monks to farm fish. They are now home to some of the finest carp in England. Kilthorpe Pools is an expensive fishing venue with 24-hour tickets costing £30 for the smaller lake and £50 for the specimen lake. However, the prices for these lakes are really worth it. There aren’t too many fishing lakes in the country with this amount of big carp in them. The chance of catching a massive carp at Kilthorpe Pools are really high, so it’s well worth your time and money.

What size do the fish go to?

Both of the lakes at Kilthorpe Pools have mirror and common carp to over 40lbs. There are also loads of 30lbers in both lakes as well. There are likely hundreds of 20lbers across this site and more double-figure carp than almost any other venue in the UK. If you want to catch a 35lb plus carp in the UK, Kilthorpe Pools is one of the best carp venues to do it; it is almost too easy here.

What tactics work well?

The carp respond well to pellets, hemp and corn when used as a good bed of bait for your rigs. Boilie choice is really important at Kilthorpe Pools. Many go for a bright hook bait which do work really well. We’d suggest using some high-attract liquid in your particles and on your hook bait. This is a heavily fished water, so standing out is important.

What facilities are on site?

Accommodation and toilets are available at Kilthorpe Pools.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is available next to both of the lakes.
